The Waiting Game

Got back from Shreveport last Saturday with high expectations from my audition for the Oliver Stone movie, W, and I have little reason to doubt my chances of getting cast. There weren’t a large number of people auditioning for this role (It could have been that exclusive, or else there were ten different auditions going on in different cities across the nation that I wasn’t aware of.) The casting staff and I seemed to have had a good rapport, and I felt that I was fairly prepared for the situation, considering how quick everything had to come together.

So now the only thing to do is wait until I hear back from them. Usually movies that are backed by big studio financing take longer to make casting decisions than an independent short film. There’s lots of things to consider: union rates, insurance, accommodations for out of town actors, coordination of shooting locations, technical resources, etc., etc., and even another etc. I know about all the factors that are in play, but, nevertheless, it doesn’t make the wait any shorter. For me, this week has stretched out longer than others that come to mind.

Handry Kova Alert! We have pinned down the last two shooting dates for this film: Sunday, April 13th, and Sunday, April 20th. Exciting stuff. Can’t wait to see what turns out.
