For months, it’s been in the making…secretly. Slowly, quietly, I’ve waited to see the pieces fall together and see if this was truly where I was supposed to go, before I made any sort of announcement.
Alas, the pieces have come, and many (not all yet) of them have come together to form a somewhat clear picture. My dear readers, Guinn Terry Davis will be relocating from Jackson, MS at the end of this month to the greater Los Angeles, California area. I have been there several times in the past, so I’ve seen alot of the sites and have a good idea of what life is like out there. And I think I’m going to enjoy it. What’s funny is the place that it appears I’ll be staying at (I say appears because it’s still in the works, but I’ll let you know as soon as I do) is only about twenty minutes away from where I spent my previous times in L.A.
Why, Guinn? Why? That is the question I get from many people when I tell them this news, and there are two reasons, nay, three reasons why I’m doing this:
I feel that this is what I’m supposed to do.
More opportunity for acting/writing, which is what I want to do as a career.
Last of all, I simply need a change of pace. As the old Elton John song goes, the change is gonna do me good!
So what does this do to the projects I’m already working on?
It appears the yours truly was not cast in the Oliver Stone picture, W. I’m a bit disappointed, but it appears that the character I auditioned for, “Piggy” Buxenhall, was cut from the film entirely. So that gives me some solace, knowing that I didn’t get the part because someone else took it (actors tell themselves these things to make themselves feel better).
And it also appears the sitcom I got cast for, We Can’t Believe It’s Television! (remember that one I mentioned), was a no-go as well. That project was killed due to some internal strife and misunderstandings, which I’m not at liberty to talk about. But take my word for it, it was enough to kill a project.
So outside of these commitments, I can pack up everything else I’m doing and take it with me. I will still be the Director of the Enclave Joshua Squad, as I will be coordinating the trips from via laptop and will be in communication with Dr. Lou and Brandon.
I’ve recently purchased a new laptop, which I will use to write screenplays (I haveFinal Draft), make progress on my novel (which has been put on the backburner for the time being), and I can still communicate with all my friends no matter where I’m at. This is a wonderful era of technology we live in.
This blog was simply the announcement. My next entry will tell of how I will be traveling to California. I’m driving, of course, but there are some surprises of who I’m traveling with and what we will be doing. Exciting stuff, and I’ll post it after the weekend.
Have a safe July 4th weekend, everyone, and remember to keep me in your thoughts and prayers. You are surely in mine.
Noooo!! *sniff* I’ll miss you Skip! Uhh…I mean, Guinn! I won’t be able to see you as often…
Waaiiit… I moved to New York 9 months ago. Crap.
Well, I hope you enjoy your move as much as I’ve enjoyed mine. Keep me up to date on what happens.
Oh, and here’s reminding you about what we talked about on the phone!
