Some of you may remember an article I wrote, A United Dance, last spring about Prom Night in Mississippi, a documentary I worked on that featured the first ever racially integrated prom night at Charleston High School in Charleston, MS.

Well, I recently received news that Prom Night in Mississippi will be featured in none other than the famed film festival, Sundance Film Festival, in Park City, Utah.

To be honest, I was honored to be a part of the project just for the sake of the project. But this recent news certainly makes me more proud to be a part of it. It was a great project that was made by great people.

But, please, don’t take my word for it. Follow this link to get Sundance’s view of the flick:

And if you’re in Utah in January for whatever reason, make sure to stop by Park City and see Prom Night in Mississippi. You may see me there as well!

Peace.

I watched this on HBO channel.
I was just amazed that still in this country there are places that are like Charleston Ms. I have had other African Americans tell me today is the new South, I have to ask what new south to think this highschool just had it’s first intergrated prom how sad is that. Again what new south?
I watched the how the children spoke its’ as though they were talking about the 1950′s 1960′s era. Mississippi is noe place that needs to catch with the rest of the world. This just goes to prove racism is taught not in born behavior.
