Extra! Extra! Infomercial Express!

Today was a busy day for me in the world of entertainment. In spite of all the driving and hustling, I can basically break the day down into two parts.

I spent much of my morning at Central Casting, which is an agency that serves as a bridge between casting directors and actors who want extra work. I was told that if you were a beginner in Hollywood (c’est moi), that this was a good route to take. Not only was there pay involved, but it got you experience on the set. Judging from the crowd this morning, though, I wasn’t the only one who was told that this was a great idea. I estimated there were over a hundred people present, and that was only the time that I was there. But getting extra work can obtain you union vouchers, which are a hot commodity if you wish to join the Screen Actor’s Guild.

Thus everyone who calls themselves an actor in Hollywood has probably been through this rite of passage, in some capacity or another. We’ll see what fruits come out of this.

In the afternoon, I auditioned! This was for an infomercial that is geared toward fitness/exercise. The whole audition comprised of us doing some basic dance steps, and smiling while we did it. I felt that I did a pretty good job; it was fun. If I get the part, I will let you know which company it is. As of right now, I’m still not sure. However, the quote of the day came from the casting director, who said:

Be excited! The goal is for people who are watching at 2:30 in the morning to want to be like you!

Words to live by, if ever I’ve heard any. Peace.
